The ‘SOLABODE’ is an affordable and efficient family housing solution built with local materials and heated with free energy from the sun. It provides safe and comfortable shelter while addressing current economic and environmental concerns.
- Fully insulated 140 thick, Douglas fir timber frame to all exterior walls.
- Insulation: Construction R values: Roof: R 4.9 Walls: R 3.2 Floor: R 4.9 TerraLana made from recycled sheep’s wool and polyester.
- Locally made Solid Earth cement-free Adobe feature walls (optional) for very low carbon footprint, humidity regulating thermal mass.
- Primary cladding: Colorsteel corrugated cladding.
- Secondary cladding: Locally grown Macrocarpa weatherboard or New Zealand made textured plywood cladding
- Exposed surface coloured and polished concrete floor slab finished in ‘salt & pepper’ texture with penetrating sealer.
- Fully insulated Maxraft concrete floor slab and fully insulated perimeter foundations.
- Sunz, flat panel solar hot water system.
