RECENT DESIGNS: Ryder House
KAITERITERI NELSON. A MODERN HOME MAKING
THE MOST OF ITS DIFFICULT RIDGELINE SITE.

Built and completed late last year,
David and Jo's house was designed 2 years ago. Built on the end of a ridge at the back of
the Kaiteriteri estuary and with beach views to the east, extensive views to the west and
south, this house literally clings to its site and I commend its owners for having the
vision and tenacity to see it through to a successful result.

Not a good shot due to a tradesman
still working in the garage and its difficult to photograph this house anyway unless you
have a helicopter! At first sight the entrance looks unusual but being right at the end of
a narrow ridge, this was the only solution for a main entry.

A better shot of the Main Entry. The
formal dining complete with balcony deck is suspended over the Garage.

Viewed from atop what is left of the
ridge line after excavations for the patio area, this view can be compared to the photo
below as a before and after exercise. The Gable vent detail has yet to be fixed.

Photo from up on ridge line.

South East Rendering

South East photo, still some landscaping to do, give them a chance!

Rendered view from south west. The thing about the comuter software is when
rendering, you can position the camera anywhere you want. This is good to help the client
see what the house will look like but not realistic in terms of where the house can be
viewed from once built, I find this out when I come to photograph the house and compare
images.

See what I mean? A good view of the
house non the less.
