Building with Pallets - Wallace 'Nikau Nook'; Okiwi Bay 2013
Go Back

Following my process they built all the floor, wall and roof panels fully insulated and lined in their garage at home in Nelson before transporting them all with roofing and cladding materials etc., to their site for erection on the foundations constructed on an earlier trip.

Annie reports to me that with their two teenage boys lending a hand (intermittently between beachcombing…) they spent just eight days assembling and finishing the cabin with an all up cost for materials of just $3500. The design was taken straight from the plans in my book except for a change to the joinery unit on the front wall. Cladding is Colorsteel ‘seconds’ from a local roofing firm and lining is thin packaging plywood. I am very impressed with their efforts.
