An interesting project to convert a large hop barn and kiln into a residential home with adjoining self contained guest apartment. The exterior shell is virtually unchanged in form but reclad with the new 'TimeLine' eco friendly pine weatherboard treated to H3.1 levels with non toxic Boron salts. The lighter cladding is stained macrocarpa weatherboard for contrast. The northern wing housing all main living areas, is passive solar heated by adding a concrete slab floor over insulation to the existing timber floor in this area. Further insulated concrete floors are laid further back in these spaces over existing slab floors. All existing exterior walls and roof planes are to be fully insulated with latitude Woolbloc. |
